Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils which are subtle, volatile liquids derived through distillation and other methods from plants, shrubs, flowers, trees, roots and seeds. Each essential oil has specific therapeutic and balancing properties and is uniquely aromatic. Their use also directly stimulates the limbic system – emotional center of the brain—via the sense of smell. There are many uses of essential oils today; most common uses are through topical applications and inhalation. Specially blended combinations of essential oils have the ability to treat a variety of physical and emotional disorders without side effects.

Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy, a light touch technique, treats specific body conditions and realigns bones, muscles, tendons and nerves to rid the body of pain.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is considered to be the ‘original’ medicine. A clinically trained herbalist has extensive knowledge of herbs and is experienced in using herbal medicine in its many forms including herbal teas, tinctures, topical compresses, herbal wraps, powders, ointments and creams.

Holistic Nutrition

Holistic nutrition involves the use of food, herbs, vitamins and a mind/body approach to cleanse, nourish and rebalance the body. Symptomatology, as well as other assessment tools, are used to determine where imbalances lie within the body. Rather than just focusing on symptoms, the holistic nutritionist looks for the root cause of health imbalance in order to give the body the raw materials it needs to heal.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy works with all the symptoms presented by the body. Everything is treated concurrently with minimum medication to affect an overall improvement in health.

Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a comprehensive, individualized approach to improving health and treating illness. Naturopathic doctors integrate modern scientific research with traditional healing methods to provide safe and effective care. Naturopathic treatments can include nutrition, botanical medicine, acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, homeopathy, lifestyle counselling, hydrotherapy, Bowen therapy and Suikodo.

Psychotherapy

This form of therapy—commonly referred to as the “talking cure”—benefits anyone who feels dissatisfaction or discomfort in the emotional quality and functioning of their daily lives. This approach views therapy as emotional guidance and support assisting clients to gain awareness into their own issues of concern. Once this awareness is established, both client and therapist are empowered to make necessary changes such as inaccurate perceptions and beliefs that are undermining the client’s ability to attain self-fulfillment.

Registered Massage Therapy

Massage therapy provides a basic comfort while simultaneously treating various musculo-skeletal conditions. By integrating knowledge of anatomy and physiology with touch, Massage Therapy is a natural way to improve and maintain the soft tissues of the body through injury and disease.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a holistic healing modality based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands, and ears which correspond to every part, gland, and organ of the body. In a Foot Reflexology session relaxation techniques are done and pressure, appropriate to the client is applied to the reflexes. The parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated which creates a relaxed healing state and as the reflexes are stimulated the system is rebalanced. Clients feel relaxed after a session and have a feeling of well-being.

Reiki

Reiki is an ancient healing art developed in Tibet thousands of years ago.  Practitioners access energy from the world around them and focus healing energy where needed.  Clients lie fully clothed on a massage table (a light blanket is available) while the Reiki practitioner rests her hands on the client’s head, shoulders, solar plexus, knees, etc.  Reiki can be done without touch if preferred.  Reiki often feels like gentle heat or coolness.  Reiki is completely safe and harmless, and has remarkable healing and rejuvenating benefits.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine involves the use of acupuncture and Chinese herbs to correct imbalances in the body’s energy (qi).
